  • Mark Gianino, MSW, PhD joined the full time faculty at Boston University School of Social Work in September of 2005 where he now is a clinical associate professor. In this capacity he teaches a range of courses within the MSW program. His research interests include gay and lesbian parenthood, transracial adoption, continuing professional education in Social Work, education and training in suicide prevention and intervention, and group work. He has enjoyed a 30-year social work career as a clinician, supervisor, and administrator in outpatient and inpatient mental health settings as well as group and independent private practices. Areas of clinical expertise include the following: treatment of trauma and mood disorders; emphasis on practice with gay, lesbian, bisexual, and transgender populations and group psychotherapy; treatment approaches include CBT, solution-focused, narrative, and emotionally focused therapy (EFT) in clinical practice with individuals, couples, families, and groups.
